2005-2006 International Teas Kick Off with Mexico
April 01, 2010
The first International Tea of the 2005-2006 academic year was held in October featuring Mexico. Lisa Friel, international programs assistant, is in charge of organizing the teas which are held several times each semester.
Friel felt Mexico was the appropriate choice for the first tea this year because the date was close to D'a de los muertos, a Mexican celebration remembering those who have passed away.
Sagra Clorio, an exchange student from Universidad de las Am'ricas, one of Mount Union's international partner universities located in Cholula, Mexico, was instrumental in coordinating the event. Clorio gave a presentation about Mexican life and culture.
Lindsay Rudibaugh, a senior Spanish major from Lisbon who is serving as tutor at the Alliance Middle School this semester, brought along two of her Mexican students as special guests.
The celebration was well attended and included Mexican food and music, a Power Point presentation and CD and a variety of cultural displays.
The next tea will be a British tea on Friday, December 9 from 3-5 p.m. in the Main Lounge.
