2013 Homecoming King and Queen Crowned

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Emily Mazzaferri and Nick Mock were crowned Homecoming Queen and King at the University of Mount Union during halftime of the Mount Union vs. Otterbein game on Saturday, October 26.

Mazzaferri, a middle childhood education major of Canton, OH, is a member of English Society, Kappa Delta Pi, Order of Omega, Sigma Tau Delta and the Student National Education Association. She is vice president of Delta Sigma Tau sorority and a member of the cross country and indoor and outdoor track teams. She has consistently been named to the Dean’s List while at Mount Union. After graduation, she hopes to land a job teaching language arts.

Mock, an English major of Newton Falls, OH, is president of GAMMA, chairperson of the Raider Programming Board and vice president of Sigma Tau Delta. He is a member of Calliope, Alpha Tau Omega and has been named to the Dean’s List consistently at Mount Union. Following graduation, he plans to join the college entertainment circuit as a musician and eventually attend grad school to become a college professor.

Others in contention for queen included Nicole Alponat, Mary Blanda, Alyssa Greenwell and Angela Paridon.

Alponat, a public relations major of Mentor, OH, is president of Alpha Psi Omega, a member of Lambda Pi Eta and Raider Programming Board and has been named to the Dean’s List. She is involved in Mount Union Players and the Association of Women Students. Following graduation, she hopes to work for a nonprofit or in a theater.

Blanda, an accounting and economics major of Parma, OH, is president of Alpha Phi Omega, a member of Campus Crusade for Christ and Accounting Club and has been named to the Dean’s List. She is a Raider Guide and an academic tutor. After graduating, she hopes to take the CPA exam and begin working at a CPA firm.

Greenwell, a biochemistry major of Canton, OH, is president of Delta Sigma Tau sorority, chairperson of Relay for Life and member of Blue Key, American Chemical Society, Order of Omega and Student Alumni Association. She has served as an advancement ambassador, has been named to the Dean’s List and is enrolled in the Honors Program. Following graduation, she plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician.

Paridon, a biology major of Akron, OH, is treasurer of the Association of Pre-PA Students, representative of Student Senate, member of Beta Beta Beta and Alpha Chi Omega and has been named to the Dean’s List. She is involved in Raider Relief and intramural volleyball. Following graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career as a physician assistant.

Others in contention for king included Sean Eppler, Tyler Johnston, Nathan Steiner and Patrick Yackmack.

Eppler, a music education major of Mentor, OH, is a member of Alpha Tau Omega, Mu Phi Epsilon, Ohio College Music Association and has been named to the Dean’s List. He is a preview and raider guide and is involved in marching band and concert choir. Following graduation, he hopes to pursue a job as a high school choir director.

Johnston, an athletic training major of Lyndhurst, OH, is treasurer of the Athletic Training Club, a Wilderness Experience student leader and a member of the men’s wrestling team. He has served as a student ambassador and a preview and orientation guide and has been named to the Dean’s List. After graduation, he plans to become a graduate assistant athletic trainer.

Steiner, a biology major of Garrettsville, OH, is membership chair of Phi Kappa Tau and a member of Association of Pre-PA Students, Beta Beta Beta and Order of Omega. He has been named to the Dean’s list. He is also involved in marching band and concert band. Following graduation, he plans to attend Mount Union’s Physician Assistant Studies Program and work in a pediatric hospital.

Yackmack, a sport business and human resources major of Streetsboro, OH, is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, Sport Business Association and Alpha Phi Omega and is a member of the men’s tennis team. He has been named to the Dean’s list and is a Preview student coordinator. After graduation, he plans to work in the professional tennis industry.
