2014 Homecoming King and Queen Crowned

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Eva Laino and Anthony Ocacio were crowned Homecoming Queen and King at the University of Mount Union during halftime of the Mount Union vs. Heidelberg game on Saturday, October 18.

Laino, a biochemistry major of Canfield, Ohio, is a First Year Experience coordinator, a member of the Honors Program, Delta Sigma Tau sorority, Pre-Health Professions Club and Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and served as a Preview Orientation Guide. She has participated on the inner tube water polo team and in intramural volleyball. She has been consistently named to the Dean’s List at Mount Union as well.

Ocacio, a middle childhood education major of Brunswick, Ohio, is a First Year Experience advocate, membership chair of Phi Kappa Tau, a Preview Orientation Guide and has participated in Relay for Life.

Others in the running for queen included Ashley Anderson, Taylor Nervo, Courtney Wachal and Brittany Wilk-Adams.

Anderson, a public relations major of Avon, Ohio, is president of Alpha Delta Pi, vice president of Order of Omega, is an advancement ambassador and a member of the Mount Union PRSSA. She is also involved in College Republicans and has consistently been named to the Dean’s List.

Nervo, a biology major of Louisville, Ohio, is, a First Year Experience coordinator, president of Kappa Phi Club and a member of the Honors Program, Pre-Health Professions Club and Student Environmental Association. She has also participated in Campus Crusade for Christ and on the Dynamo staff. She has been named to the Dean’s List consistently.

Wachal, a French and International Studies major of Bettendorf, Iowa, is a member of the Honors Program, Residence Life, Student Environmental Association, Alpha Xi Delta, Alpha Phi Omega, the Mount Union Concert Choir, Sigma Iota Rho and Alpha Lambda Delta. She has also served as secretary of the Pre-Law Society and has been named to the Dean’s List consistently.

Wilk-Adams, a human resources major of Parma, Ohio, is president of Delta Sigma Tau, coordinator of Greek Member Academy and a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has been named to the Dean’s List consistently.

Others in contention for king included Dan Goswick, Greg Koman, Andrew Rothermel and Jacob Ward.

Goswick, a marketing major of Amherst, Ohio, is a member of Raider Relief, Alpha Phi Omega, the American Marketing Association, Alpha Lambda Delta, WRMU and the Mount Union marching band. He has consistently been named to the Dean’s List.

Koman, a public relations major of Painesville Township, Ohio, is coordinator of Greek Member Academy, president of Phi Kappa Tau and a member of Order of Omega. He has also participated in Greek Member Academy and Up Till Dawn and has been named to the Dean’s List consistently.

Rothermel, a senior finance and management major of Rootstown, Ohio, is assistant residence director for Residence Life, a member of the Bringing Students and Executives Together program (BEST), a Preview and Orientation Guide and president of Tau Pi Phi. He has also participated in Emerging Leaders and intramural sports. He has been consistently named to the Dean’s List.

Ward, an art and theatre major of Kensington, Ohio, is a member of Residence Life, Regula Scholars, Concert Choir, Kappa Pi Art Fraternity, Alpha Psi Omega/MUC Players, Relay for Life Committee, Buzzkill Committee and the Honors Program. He has participated in Mount Union theatre productions and has been consistently named to the Dean’s List.
