6th Annual Most Significant Bytes Multimedia Concert to Be Held November 18

The 6th Annual Most Significant Bytes Multimedia Concert, produced by Dr. Jerome Miskell, assistant professor of music at Mount Union College, will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall, located in Cope Music Hall.
Elizabeth McNutt
The concert will include digital video and sounds pieces and works for live performers with electronics. This year's guest artists will be Andrew May and Elizabeth McNutt.
At the morning convocation (the 10:30 a.m. performance), May and McNutt will present 'Look Ma! No Band!' This will be a demonstration of the technology behind 'Retake,' a work for flute and computer. McNutt, who plays the flute, and May, the composer, will discuss and perform works demonstrating recent technical innovations that allow the computer to behave as an invisible virtual chamber musician in concert. The evening concert will be a performance of 'Retake.' In addition, there will be a performance of 'Through Amber for Clarinet and Electronic Sounds.' This work was composed by Diane Thome and will be performed by Dr. James Perone, associate professor of music at Mount Union.
Andrew May
Composer May views the score as a blueprint for a living relationship between composers and performers, the terms of which are constantly evolving. May is a violinist, improviser and computer musician. He is a member of the faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder College of Music, where he serves as assistant professor and director of music technology.
McNutt has become a major force in the worlds of contemporary and electroacoustic music. She has presented works involving interactive technology in the Los Angeles Philharmonic Green Umbrella series, SEAMUS National Conferences, Berkeley Symphony, New Music Circle and International Computer Music Conferences.
