Civil Engineering Faculty Position
The ABET-accredited civil engineering program at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 1, 2018. We seek an educator-scholar in civil engineering with emphasis on construction engineering and construction management. Primary responsibilities will consist of developing the construction engineering and management curriculum and teaching it. The successful hire will also be responsible for teaching the capstone senior design courses. Flexibility to teach a variety of courses such as structures and introduction to engineering is desirable. Additional responsibilities include advising civil engineering students, program assessment and continuous improvement, professional development, scholarly activity, and involvement in faculty governance.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field and have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education. The candidate must be PE licensed in civil engineering or be able to obtain licensure within 2 years. Industrial experience, competence with CAD tools like AutoCAD, and experience with laboratory development are highly desirable. Candidates must have a commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting.
