Academic Brunch Celebration Held for Members of the Greek Community

March 12, 2010

The Interfraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council hosted an academic brunch celebration for members of the Mount Union Greek community who were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester.

According to Kate Carnell, director of student involvement and leadership, 29 percent of Greeks were named to the Dean’s List last semester. The sorority with the highest grade point average is Alpha Chi Omega with a 3.38 and the fraternity with the highest grade point average is Phi Kappa Tau with a 3.03.

“Fostering strong academics is one of the cornerstones of the Greek life experience as students continue to strive towards academic achievements,” said Abby Honaker, a junior English writing major and member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

This year’s academic brunch celebration was a success as members of the Greek community gathered with faculty members to celebrate.  “I was pleased with the turnout,” said Kristin Reeder, a junior history major and member of Alpha Xi Delta. “It’s nice to honor students who do well academically, and allow for them to share their successes with professors.”
