Music Performing Opportunities

Mount Union faculty members are unique in that we really know our students and we are readily available to help all of them as a collective group. We are a village.

Mount Union gave a good foundation in music to enter the main stream of music and to get into the schools that eventually got me to The Metropolitan Opera.

I believe demonstrating passages at the piano can show my own musical passion to my students and often helps spark the students’ own passion for learning...

I visited 23 college campuses in my search and as soon as I stepped on Mount's campus I knew it was the place for me.

I had no doubts that I wanted to be at Mount Union. I have had the privilege of working with talented and dedicated colleagues inside and outside of the music department.

I love Mount Union because of all the people who touched my life in significant ways during my four years. I firmly believe I would not be where I am today if not for their impact, their friendship and their dedication to making me a better student, a better musician and most importantly a better person.

The Mount Union experience lets people thrive and bloom in ways they often had never imagined before attending.

Mount Union provided many opportunities for me to challenge myself as a musician and a person in all the ensembles and classes that are offered.

Working with the students and watching them grow as musicians and as humans is extremely rewarding.

When I finished high school, I needed a place to improve my musicianship, but I also needed a place where I could grow and mature as a person. UMU was that place for me. 

I chose Mount Union because it was one of the few universities that was flexible with me double majoring in mechanical engineering and music.

Mount Union assured me that I could study both civil engineering and music.

Learning about France and its culture through a cooking class is fascinating as it serves as an immersion into the culture.

The music faculty expertise and kindness helped guide me through my undergraduate years and I am forever grateful for the knowledge that they have passed on to me.

Everyday I work towards my goal of bridging gaps and breaking barriers for students and families in the Cleveland community through music.

The ability to take various courses gives me the opportunity to take advantage of everything that is offered to me as a student.

I had the opportunity to work in the theater department while attending Mount Union, and it allowed me to gain field experience to help get a job straight out of college.

Storytelling is one of the most humanizing shared experiences we can have and when done right, it can help people to become more accepting of others.

Mount Union makes me feel at home each day and that’s how I knew I made the right choice.

My classroom is engaging, supportive and hands on! There are rarely days when my students aren't using their creative brains or participating in discussion.

My challenge is to help students who are majoring in academic fields other than theatre understand why the study of theatre should matter to them.

Mount Union is definitely setting me up for success. Not only am I provided the necessary resources, including a beautiful music facility, a very knowledgeable and talented music faculty, and a wide variety of music classes, but the degree track is also specifically designed to get me hands on experience!

By acting in several productions while attending Mount Union, I was able to understand the importance of scenery and its role in creating the atmosphere for the character. It gave me a strong background in all aspects of a theatrical production.

Mount Union feels like a second home because of the friends that have turned into family!

Mount Union does not feel like a second home to me; but rather my primary home because it not only offers me people that I choose to be my family, but also the support, encouragement and opportunities to be the best version of myself and pursue the things that make me Amy.

Mount Union was and is a place that asked me 'What do you want to do? How can we help you make that happen?' and lived up to that throughout my time there.

The relationships that grow between the professors and students is one of a kind. When I go to class, I feel as if the professors care deeply about the students and their success.

I want to direct, shoot films, music videos, etc... Mount Union's theatre program is giving me the experiences necessary to fulfill my goals.

I want to become an actor and comedian one day, and being a member of Mount Union Players through the theatre program is helping me step outside my comfort zone to become a more confident performer each time I step on stage.
