Adult Studies Graduates Celebrate with Reception

The Mount Union College Adult Studies Program has four graduates completing their course of study this academic year. When these hardworking individuals receive their diplomas, it represents many years of dedication and determination.

The Adult Studies students recently celebrated their accomplishments at a reception held in their honor. Karen Moriarty, director of adult studies at Mount Union College, says that each individual has much to be proud of.

Connie Brodzinski began at Mount Union in 1996, transferring 15 credit hours from Kent State University. She will receive her degree in business administration with a minor in psychology.

"Connie took 8 courses in the past year so that she could graduate this May," said Moriarty.

Dawn Dorsey completed her degree in December, graduating magna cum laude.

"Dawn majored in history with a sociology minor. She began in 1996 and completed all her work through Mount Union," said Moriarty.

Shannon Kennedy began in 1993 as a traditional student at Mount Union. She will receive her degree in psychology and sociology.

"After receiving an associate degree from Stark State College of Technology, Shannon came back to Mount Union to finish her bachelor's degree through Adult Studies," said Moriarty.

Lu Ann Youngman is a United Methodist pastor from Dover who will receive her degree in psychology with a minor in sociology.

"Lu Ann has an associate degree from Kent State University and had also completed a course of study for the ordained ministry of United Methodist Church," said Moriarty.

Family members & friends were in attendance along with Dr. Richard Marriott, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, and Dr. Carol Canavan, assistant vice president for academic affairs.
