Africana Studies Internships and Hands-On Learning

Students who choose to minor in Africana studies at the University Mount Union have ample opportunities to get involved outside of the classroom. By getting involved in these extracurricular opportunities and student organizations, you can expand your knowledge of the political, historical, cultural, literary, spiritual and social impact of people of African descent have on American society and the world. 

Experiential learning opportunities will give you many chances to put classroom knowledge to work. These opportunities, which complement classroom learning, include:

  • Internships
  • Study abroad experience
  • Multicultural retreat
  • Black History Month events
  • Potential exchange with a historical black college or university
  • Service-learning opportunities
  • Independent research
  • Research with faculty or student peers
  • Research-based courses

Black Student Union is a student-led organization on Mount Union’s campus.
