About the Africana Studies Minor (formerly African-American Studies)

In today's global society, an understanding of diverse communities can provide a gateway to acceptance and appreciation. Explore the impact of people of African descent on American society and the world through the exploration of politics, history, culture, literature, spirituality and society. This minor program is helpful in professions where an understanding of ethnicity and social class is important, and it uniquely complements a host of majors.

The minor in Africana studies is administered by the Department of Interdisciplinary and Liberal Studies, which also offers programs in gender studies and peacebuilding and social justice.
