Alliance Area Resident Wins Local Scholarship

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Beloit resident Brandice Tolson, a sophomore at Mount Union College, has received the Nick and Margaret Hampu Scholarship for 2000-2001.

Tolson, a sociology and French major with a minor in music, is the daughter of Jeff and Theresa Tolson, and a 1999 graduate of West Branch High School.

A 1999 graduate of West Branch High School, Tolson is a member of GABLE, the Wind Ensemble, Mount Union Marching Band, Jazz Band and Trombone Ensemble. She has received various honors at Mount Union, including most recently winning second prize in the Calliope Literary Magazine contest for her poetry and she also has earned Dean's List honors.

The Nick and Margaret Hampu Scholarship Fund, established in 1994 through the estate of Margaret Hampu, provides assistance to local high school graduates to support their attendance at Mount Union College.
