October 13, 2009

An Alliance City Council candidate forum will be held at Mount Union on Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m. in the Mount Union Theatre.

Sponsored by the institution’s Department of Political Science, the forum will allow for the seven candidates running for Alliance City Council at-large to express their ideas and views on a variety of issues and topics on both local and national levels.

Candidates participating include Alan Andreani, Don Brady, Sarah Morris Brown, Carolyn Crites, Larry Dordea, Steve Okey and Sue Ryan. Only three seats are available on council and the new council members will be determined during the November 3 election.

During the forum, candidates will have the opportunity to make an opening statement, answer pre-selected questions and take questions from the audience. Harry Paidas, chair of the Department of Communication and assistant to the president for community affairs and special projects, will moderate the discussion and Dr. William Cunion, chair of the Department of Political Science, will provide introductions.

Individuals wishing to submit questions to be considered for the forum must do so by Friday, October 16. Questions can be submitted via e-mail to allianceatlargedebate@hotmail.com.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Cunion at (330) 823-2450.
