Alliance Startup Fund Plans Launch Event

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Local entrepreneurs are invited to attend an Alliance Startup Fund launch event hosted by the City of Alliance and the Technology Accelerator Alliance (TA2).

The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. on April 18 in the East Room of the University of Mount Union’s Hoover-Price Campus Center.

The City of Alliance and TA2 have developed a new source of capital for entrepreneurs in collaboration with the JumpStart Entrepreneurial Network. The  hyper-local fund was created to encourage and support promising young tech companies that can attract additional funding, generate revenue and create new jobs in the city. Promising startups based in or willing to relocate to Alliance can apply for payment-deferred loans of as much as $35,000.

Attendees of the event will learn more about eligibility requirements and the application process. Presenters and attendees will include officials from the City of Alliance, the University of Mount Union, TA2, Alliance Area Development Foundation and Alliance Ventures. The event will include a 45-minute presentation followed by a Q&A and light reception.

Giese, president of Mount Union. “Developing entrepreneurial students aligns perfectly with our mission at the University of Mount Union to prepare students for fulfilling lives, meaningful work and responsible citizenship.”

Applications for the Alliance Startup Fund’s first round are due by May 24, 2013. The event is open to any interested entrepreneurs, but reservations are required.
