Alliance Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert

November 30, 2010

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Eric Benjamin, will present a concert of holiday favorites on Sunday, December 5 at 3 p.m. in the Alliance High School Auditorium.
Highlights of this year’s holiday concert include familiar Christmas songs including Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, Sleigh Ride, Greensleeves and selections from Hansel and Gretel. The concert will also feature a Christmas carol sing-along and brand new works composed by Eric Benjamin, the newly-appointed conductor and adjunct instructor of music at the University of Mount Union.
Celebrating its 21st season with renewed artistic vigor and achievement, the Alliance Symphony Orchestra is a vivid example of the exciting musical enrichment available to area residents.  Performing three public concerts per year, the 70-member orchestra provides an essential artistic outlet for a widely-varied group of musicians including advanced high school aged students, adults and senior citizens.  With budget cutbacks and a lack of availability of school string classes in most area school districts, the Alliance Symphony serves an important educational function in the Alliance community.
