Alliance Symphony Orchestra to Perform Spring Concert April 27

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Rebecca Stinson, will perform a concert at West Branch High School Auditorium on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m.  

The performance will feature music from many different lands beginning in Germany with the “Academic Festival Overture” by Brahms, continuing through Romania with the haunting “Romanian Folk Dances” by Bartok, France for opera dance selections by Offenbach and traveling to the Russian coast line for the “Russian Sailors’ Dance” by Gliere.  The second half of the program plants itself firmly in North America and features selections by LeRoy Anderson.  West Branch Band Director Robert Barnett will be featured as the virtuoso typewriter soloist on Anderson’s famous “The Typewriter.”  Other American music will include the beautiful and exciting themes from “Superman Returns.”    

Concert tickets are $10.00 and senior tickets are $8.00. Tickets will be available at the door. Children can attend free with a parent. High school and college students will be admitted free with a student ID.  Arts in Stark members and Alliance Concert Association members get two tickets for the price of one at the door. A post concert reception will be held in the lobby.

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra has been a longtime fixture in the cultural landscape of the Alliance area. Since its founding in 1989, the Alliance Symphony Orchestra has provided orchestral music of many styles for the enjoyment and enrichment of the people of the Alliance area. The symphony is made up of adults and college and high school students from Alliance and the surrounding area.
