Alliance Symphony Orchestra to Present Concert

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Rebecca Stinson, will present two upcoming concerts. On Thursday, April 12, the orchestra will perform at Salem High School at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 15, a concert will be held at West Branch High School at 3 p.m.

The featured soloist is Maira Balacon, assistant professor of music at Mount Union College, performing the first movement of the Grieg piano concerto. Other selections include Smetana's Polka from the Bartered Bride, Dvorak's Slavonic Dance no. 1, the first movement of Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, Calvin Custers' American tribute entitled The American Frontier and John Williams' Raiders March.

Tickets for both performances are $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Since its founding in 1989, the Alliance Symphony Orchestra has provided orchestral music of many styles for the enjoyment and enrichment of the people of the Alliance area. The members of the symphony include adult as well as college and high school volunteers.
