Alliance Symphony to Perform at Carnation Festival

July 29, 2015

The Alliance Symphony Orchestra will perform as part of the Carnation Festival at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 12 at Silver Park in Alliance. In the event of rain, the orchestra will perform at Mount Union’s Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts.

The Orchestra will play some classic dances – a Slavonic Dance by Dvorak and the "Emperor" Waltzes by Johann Strauss Jr. To give attendees a preview of its gala fall concert, the orchestra will perform the majestic "Great Gate of Kiev" from "Pictures at an Exhibition" which will be presented in its entirety at the October concert. At the festival, the group will also perform music of a more popular nature, though still classic – Dixieland jazz and a set of melodies by Duke Ellington, Paul McCartney's "Michelle" and thrilling music from  the film "Jurassic Park" by John Williams.

The Alliance Symphony is a college/community orchestra comprised of community volunteer players and enrolled students. The ASO is directed by Eric Benjamin. For more information, see the orchestra's page on Facebook.
