Alpha Phi Omega ‘Lights Up the Lakes’

April 19, 2013

University of Mount Union students and community members joined brothers of Alpha Phi Omega in the first ever ‘Light Up the Lakes’ at University of Mount Union on April 17 and raised $751.30 for the Alliance Food Pantry.

More than 200 people attended the floating candlelight vigil and lit a candle in memory of their loved ones.

Dan Goswick, a sophomore marketing major and Alpha Phi Omega brother, who organized the event, discussed his thoughts on the successful project.

“This was one of those times where I was very much beside myself. I saw people moved to tears, and it was incredible to hear people’s stories,” Goswick said. “I’m very thankful for all the support this project received. It truly surpassed my wildest expectations.”

This was the first time an event like this has happened at Mount Union’s campus and Goswick says he hopes to be able to put the event on again next year. The project was sponsored by Chives, Circulatory Center, Cockrill’s Studio and Healthy Heart Healthy Pleasures.
