Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 Set for October 3-4

May 24, 2010

Mount Union College’s Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 will be held on Saturday, October 3 through Sunday, October 4.

Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 will offer opportunities for alumni to reconnect and visit with former classmates. The classes of 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004 will be honored with class reunions at various tents around the Campus Lakes. The Class of 1959 celebrated its Golden Anniversary reunion during Commencement in May.

The annual Street Fair will begin on Saturday at 3 p.m. outside of Bracy Hall. This family-style fair will offer music, food vendors, entertainment, a dunk tank and more. Also on campus during that time will be a parade through campus. Alumni and friends at the Street Fair will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite floats and the winners will be announced during halftime of the football game vs. Baldwin-Wallace Col¬lege (7 p.m. kick off).

A number of events require pre-registration including the annual Run-A-MUC 5K Race and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk, Camp MUCaw, Alumni Luncheon and Class Reunions. For the first time, alumni can register for all four events through Purple Raiders Central, a new online alumni community. The site can be accessed at, where alumni may register for an account. This process is simple and allows for a convenient and secure way to register and provide payment for events.

New this year is an Alumni Career Transitions Workshop sponsored by the Office of Career Development which will provide guidance to alumni desiring to “re-tool” their job skills. Topics highlighted will include current job strategies, marketing trends, resume tips, interviewing and local outsourcing agencies. Alumni can register for this workshop by contacting Linda Zepernick at

Other events during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming 2009 will include a pre-game cookout, soccer and volleyball games, alumni art exhibit, Greek gatherings and a memorial service and tree dedication.
