Alumni Weekend and Homecoming Events Planned

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Numerous events are planned for the University of Mount Union’s 2014 Alumni Weekend and Homecoming on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19.

At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, an Alumni Brunch will be held in a tent near Bracy Hall. A special performance will be given by the Mount Union Choir. Cost is $10 and RSVPs are requested by calling (330) 823-2030. Walk-ups will be accepted if space is available.

Reunion gatherings will be held for the classes of ’39, ’44, ’49, ’54 and ’59 at 11 a.m. in the East Room of the Hoover Price Campus Center. Milestone reunion gatherings are planned for the classes of ’69, ’74, ’79, ’84, ’89, ’94, ’99, ’04, ’09 and ’14 in the Field House, where the John Hampu Band will be playing.

From 11 a.m. to 1:25 p.m., children of all ages are invited to celebrate MUcaw’s 21st birthday with a photo booth, crafts and activities and birthday cupcakes, outside Mount Union Stadium.

At 12:15 p.m. there will be a parade through campus startingat Cope Music Hall. The parade will then head west and turn into campus, ending at Beeghly Hall. This year, children (along with their parents) are invited to walk in the parade as part of MUcaw’s birthday celebration. Free T-shirts will be available for alumni children under 12 (quantity limited so check-in early) or participants can wear Raider gear to be part of this Mount Union tradition.

The Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center, located at 16146 Daniel St. N.E. in Minerva, will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Families and alumni can go on a guided tour of the fall foliage on site with the Center staff or explore the grounds on their own.

The Mount Union vs. Heidelberg football game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. in Mount Union Stadium. The 2014 Homecoming Queen and King will be crowned during halftime. To purchase game tickets, contact the Office of Athletics at (330) 829-4100. Tickets are $9 and all seats are reserved.

At 6:30 p.m., improv group Mission Improvable will perform in Campus Grounds of the Hoover Price Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

At 9 a.m. on Sunday, a memorial service to celebrate the lives of alumni who passed away over the past year will be held in Dewald Chapel.

Throughout the weekend, several alumni athletic gatherings will take place including swimming, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and baseball. See for a complete schedule.
