Annual Health Fair for Students to be Held March 26
March 19, 2008
Mount Union College students are invited to attend the annual Health Fair for Students March 26 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the East Room and the Alumni Room of the Hoover Price Campus Center.
The purpose of the event is to offer free health screening, information and fitness testing. Physicians will provide vision testing and foot screening. Some additional screening includes HIV testing, body mass index readings, height and weight measurements, blood pressure readings, peak expiratory flow readings, waist-to-hip ratio readings, and blood sugar readings among others.
Students can also register for a chance to win prizes, have a massage, taste healthy snacks, receive a variety of free sample products, and learn more about health and healthy lifestyles.
The Health Fair has been an annual event on campus since 2000 and has grown significantly over the years. According to Linda Pauli, R.N., Director of the Health Center, the event is coordinated by the Health Center staff and is made possible by the cooperation of local physicians, nurses, various health care providers, agencies, businesses and campus departments that volunteer their time to participate.
Pauli credits the success of the event to the people who volunteer their time to provide their services. She stated the Health Fair would not be able to take place without them and thanks them for their participation.
The event has been very well attended in past years. Students should check their mailboxes for a brochure that tells about the Health Fair in detail. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the services and information offered.
