Applications Being Accepted for Honors Program
January 24, 2013
ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Honors Program at the University of Mount Union is now accepting applications.
The Honors Program is a highly-selective program designed for motivated and intellectual students who have set high academic priorities earlier on in their high school and college careers.
The program provides academic flexibility and challenge while at the same time encouraging intellectual curiosity, leadership, initiative, creativity, civic-mindedness and a high standard of performance.
Two honors tracks are available – University Honors and Honors in the Major. A qualified student may participate in both tracks.
The Honors Program is essentially a learning community for students that provides academic and social support. Students who pursue the University Honors track will take a series of seven academic courses as well as complete Honors in the Major. Those who participate in the Honors in the Major track must complete three courses within their major at Mount Union. Honors courses cover material at a faster pace and in more depth than usually would be covered in a regular course.
The Honors Program at Mount Union is directed by Dr. Debra Boyd Kimball, associate professor of chemistry.
