Area Kids Invited to “Day of Play”

October 24, 2014

ALLIANCE – Children of all ages and their families are invited to attend the University of Mount Union’s annual Day of Play event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 2 in the Peterson Fieldhouse located in the MAAC.

Families who attend the event will be able to spend time playing games with Mount Union athletes from a variety of sports in order to promote physical activity for children outdoors and also at their homes.

During Day of Play, children will get to jump around in a bounce house. Free food, mostly consisting of healthy snacks and beverages, will be available for all who attend.

Booths with information about health topics will be set up for everyone to look at and learn from in an educational and engaging manner that teaches children about how learning can be just as fun as jumping up and falling down in an interactive bounce house.

There will also be a general open play with some of the Mount Union athletes where children and their families can interact with each other.

This event is based off of Nickelodeon’s Day of Play to encourage families to be healthier. Nickelodeon started this event in October of 2004 with the Let’s Just Play campaign, which has now developed into the Worldwide Day of Play, a time for children and their families to spend with one another in physical activity and learning about how to live healthier lives.
