Art Exhibit to Feature Works by Mark Soppeland

The exhibit, “The Garden of Dreams,” which will be on display from January 11 through January 31 in the Crandall Art Gallery, will feature visionary images and objects by Mark Soppeland.

Soppeland is a painter, sculptor and designer. The distinguished professor at the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron, has displayed his work in more than 350 exhibitions on four continents. He has been awarded four Ohio Arts Council Individual Artists’ Fellowships, and spent the summer of 2002 in Prague, Czech Republic on an OAC International Artist in Residence Fellowship.

Soppeland earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Colorado and a master of fine arts degree from The Ohio State University.

An artist's reception will also be held on Thursday, January 21 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Crandall Art Gallery, which is located at the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue between Cope Music Hall and Rodman Playhouse, is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m. For more information, please contact the Department of Art at (330) 823-3860.
