ASO Presents British Isle Aires!

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Alliance Symphony Orchestra will perform “British Isle Aires!” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the Alliance High School Auditorium. The concert will include compositions of British, Irish and Scottish origin and will feature bagpipers from the award-winning Celtic Eagle Pipe Band and professional tenor Robert Frankenberry.

ASO Music Director Eric Benjamin will conduct the program.

Featured pieces include English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams; The Hebrides Overture, Op. 26 “Fingal’s Cave” by Felix Mendelssohn; Symphony No. 3, Op. 28 “The Irish” by Charles Villiers Stanford; Danny Boy, an Irish traditional arranged by Eric Benjamin (with Robert Frankenberry, tenor) and Marches and Airs also by Eric Benjamin featuring the bagpipers for a rousing finale.

The program showcases music of great beauty, history and passion originating from the vibrant culture and picturesque landscapes of the British Isles.

The concert will be held in the Alliance High School auditorium and tickets will be sold at the door. Adults are $10, Students are free with school I.D. and Seniors are $8.
