ATO Cuts for Cancer Raises $2,000 for Relay for Life

April 12, 2010

More than 20 Alpha Tau Omega fraternity brothers participated in “ATO Cuts for Cancer” on Monday, April 5 and are now sporting shaved heads and blonde Mohawks to raise awareness for the American Cancer Society.

The hair-cutting ceremony, filled with food, games and music, raised $2,000 for Relay for Life. Haircuts were based on the amount of money each brother raised. Hairstyles included a shaved head, mohawk, blonde mohawk and top-shaved.

“Our event was unique, allowing us to generate a lot of interest,” said Adam Hood, a junior business administration major from Barberton, OH and member of ATO.  “I was happy with the donations we received and the amount of people that attended the hair-cutting ceremony.  It was great to have so much support.”

Relay for Life will be held on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 in the Peterson Field House on Mount Union’s campus.  Like many other organizations, ATO will have a booth at Relay for Life where they will continue collecting donations.
