Basheer Jones to Speak at Mount Union Theatre on February 26

basheerBasheer Jones, Cleveland radio personality and published poetry author, will speak on Thursday February 26 at 7 p.m. in the Mount Union Theatre as part of the Black History Month events at Mount Union College.

Jones is host of the Cleveland morning show, Basheer Jones and Company, that airs on News Talk 1490AM. He has interviewed people such as Vice President Joe Biden, Rapper Young Jeezy, Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith and MTV’s Run’s House star Rev. Run.

Jones is actively involved in the Cleveland community, serving as a member of B.R.I.C.K (Brotherhood, Respect, Intelligence, Conduct, and Knowledge) community service group, a committee member of Spiritual Affairs for the Student Government Association and as Public Relations Director for Muslim Student Association. Recently, he also released his second CD, I’ll Speak 4 Change.

Jones has travelled internationally speaking and reciting his poetry, performing at places such as the Apollo theatre and Emory University. His poetry has won countless awards and has been featured in Essence Magazine, The Cleveland Call, Post and Plain Dealer Newspapers, and on numerous radio stations across the nation. Jones has been named one of Cleveland State University’s Great African American Men and Cleveland Life Magazine’s Twenty-Five Leaders of Tomorrow.
