Our biology major will provide you with an understanding of life as a process and an extraordinarily high degree of hands-on involvement. You'll have unique opportunities to study in the field at our own nature center and off-campus sites, or work hand in hand with our faculty on research that complements your future aspirations.
Following graduation, those who have completed the biology undergraduate program have pursued further training through research programs (Master’s degree and Ph.D.) in biology, microbiology and immunology, ecology, genetics, and biomedicine as well as professional programs in healthcare including medicine (D.O. and M.D.), optometry, physician assistant studies, nursing, dentistry and pharmacy.
Recent graduates are currently in programs at the University of Toledo, Case Western Reserve University, Indiana University, Ohio University, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, The Ohio State University, University of Rochester Medical Center and Kent State University. Other graduates have acquired positions working in our local school system, Stark Parks, water treatment facilities, local crime lab and in various environmental and healthcare-related agencies
The major in biology is administered by the Department of Biology, which also offers a program in medical technology.
