Biomedical Engineering Faculty Position


The Department of Engineering at the University of Mount Union is seeking an educator-scholar to lead in the development of an innovative biomedical engineering program and invites experienced applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the associate professor or professor rank beginning August 1, 2018. 

The department currently offers ABET accredited programs in civil and mechanical engineering. Three newly created programs in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering will begin enrolling students in Fall 2018 and then seek ABET accreditation after their graduation in 2022.

Primary responsibilities will consist of leading the development of the biomedical engineering curriculum and labs, teaching courses, and guiding the ABET accreditation process. Flexibility to teach a variety of interdisciplinary introductory-level engineering courses is desired. Additional responsibilities include advising biomedical engineering students, industrial outreach leading to internship and employment opportunities for our students, support in student recruitment, scholarly activity, and involvement in faculty governance.


The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or a closely related field and have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education. Both industrial and instructional experience are highly desirable. Candidates must have a commitment to teaching in a liberal arts setting.
