Birthday Party Held in Honor of MUCaw
November 11, 2009
MUCaw, the Mount Union Purple Raiders’ mascot, celebrated its 15th birthday with the help of other mascots from the surrounding areas on Saturday, November 7, as a part of Family Day.
An array of activities for children and their families to enjoy took place throughout the day. A special performance by MUCaw and guest mascots took place during half time of the Mount Union College vs. Otterbein College football game.
Following the game, a pirate-themed birthday party was held in the Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center where guests enjoyed cotton candy, root beer floats, snacks, party favors, face painting and a special birthday cake. Children had the opportunity to take pictures with MUCaw, share their best pirate impression or joke and participate in party games.
"I would like to give credit to the public relations class for organizing and executing this event. It looks easy, but in reality it takes time,” said Harry Paidas, chair of the Department of Communication and professor of the public relations class who organized MUCaw’s birthday party. “When MUCaw made its debut 15 years ago, we didn't anticipate how popular it would become and it is a great community builder."
