Black History Month Wrap-Up and Photo Gallery

Mount Union College hosted a variety of events in celebration and acknowledgement of Black History Month.
Herman Boone, former head coach of the Titans football team and inspiration for the Disney movie Remember the Titans, provided the Black History Month keynote address on February 5.
On Wednesday, February 18, the Black History 101 Mobile Museum was on display in Campus Grounds. This exhibit, by founder and originator Khalid el-Hakim, is a grassroots based project that displays museum quality Black memorabilia. Also on February 18, Richard “Professor Griff” Griffin, an American rapper and spoken word artist, met with interested students on campus.
Basheer Jones, host of the Basheer Jones and Company Morning Show of Radio-One Cleveland, spoke at Mount Union Theatre on Thursday, February 26. A graduate of Morehouse College, Jones is a published author of poetry and opened up for The Def Poetry Jam at Emory University.
In addition, the annual Black Student Union Fashion Show was held on Saturday, February 21 in the Mount Union Theatre. Canned food donations were taken to benefit the Feed My Sheep Ministries in Alliance for distribution to the community.Back to Previous Page
