MY EXCEPTIONAL STORY

Sisterly Advice
Since I had heard about Mount Union from my sister for two years, and had visited the campus a few times on my own, I just couldn’t see myself going anywhere else for college, especially not to a large campus like the other local campuses such as Akron or Kent. This brings me to the second reason I chose Mount Union, which is that it is local. Family means a lot to me, and not being able to go home to see them whenever I felt like it, well… it wasn’t an option.

The Best Class…So Far
My absolute favorite class was actually the class I was dreading the most: Legal Advocacy. This course is taught by a local county judge for the first time in the course’s history. His structuring of the course made it very hands-on. We interrogated witnesses, examined a crime scene and leafed through hundreds of pages of witness testimony. It really couldn’t have been a more enjoyable time!

Favorite Professor
My absolute favorite professor was also my advisor Dr. Jack DeSario, professor of political science and director of the pre-law professional programs. He begins many of his classes digging deep in to the topics at hand to better educate the class. But the way he goes about it he is better preparing his students for what they need to do when it is time to go to law school. I want to go to law school, and he does his best to prepare me for the realization of that dream. Dr. DeSario cares deeply for his students and does an awful lot to make sure that they are ready for whatever path they are taking in life. I really couldn’t think of a better professor to have.

Inspiring Classwork
I would have to say that my favorite hands on experience in my major was the first time I visited the U. S. Army War College panel when they visited campus in the spring semester of my freshman year. Just being in that room, hearing what they had to say concerning U.S. policy was inspiring.

Better than Batman
People say “do what you love” so my ultimate career is to be a district attorney someday. I can’t logically be Batman, Spiderman or any of the heroes of my youth so, it makes sense that I put the villains away the only way that I can - as part of the legal system as a prosecutor.
