Speakers are as follows: January 27 – Dr. Lori Kumler, assistant professor of political science and international studies, who will present “Environmental Sustainability and Government: Lessons from Nature.” February 24 – Dr. Keith Miller, assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry, who will present “Discoveries and Cures: Preparing the Future Generation of Scientists and Medical Professionals.”

Mount Union to Host Keyboard Artist Series

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Internationally acclaimed pianist Dr. Silvan Negruțiu will teach a masterclass and perform as a guest artist as part of the Keyboard Artist Series at the University of Mount Union. Negruțiu will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 25 and will teach a masterclass at 11:15 a.m. Monday, January 26 in Presser Recital Hall. His performance pieces will include “Sonata” in F Minor by Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as beloved masterpieces of Johannes Brahms, Alberto Ginastera and George Enescu. As an assistant professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies at Millikin University School of Music in Decatur, Illinois, Negruțiu obtained a master’s degree with First Class Honours at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Dublin City University in Ireland. He received a graduate diploma from the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania and completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at Shenandoah University in Virginia, under the guidance of internationally acclaimed pianist and pedagogue John O'Conor.
