As 2011 comes to a close, it gives the University of Mount Union an exceptional opportunity to reflect on all the advancements that were made during the past year.

This holiday season, members of the University of Mount Union community were generous and dedicated to helping others in need.

In an effort to enhance the diversity of the University of Mount Union’s campus community while exposing students to an array of cultures, ideas and values, a minor in Chinese has been added to Mount Union’s curriculum.

Physician assistant clinical rotations are an exceptional win-win situation for both University of Mount Union students and physicians in the Northeast Ohio area. Once a student successfully completes the traditional biomedical and clinical preparatory coursework in the University’s Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program, the student completes 10 clinical rotations at area doctors’ offices, hospitals and clinics.

A send-off for the University of Mount Union football team and coaches will be held Tuesday, December 13 at approximately 7 p.m. at the Wable-Harter Building, which is located north of Mount Union Stadium.

The Office of Alumni Relations and University Activities at the University of Mount Union is organizing two options for bus transportation to Salem, VA to see the Purple Raider football team in the 2011 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. The Stagg Bowl will take place on Friday, December 16 at 7 p.m. at Salem Stadium.

The sounds of the Big Band Era will fill the Mount Union Theatre on Saturday, December 10 at 7 p.m.

The University of Mount Union’s Christmas Festival, Child of Light, will be held on Friday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Myers Sanctuary, located in Dewald Chapel on the University’s campus. The holiday event will feature performances from Mount Union’s Concert Choir and Women’s Choir.

The University of Mount Union’s Concert Band will present a holiday concert on Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m. in Rodman Playhouse.

Inspirational Voices of Praise (IVOP), University of Mount Union’s gospel choir, will present its annual advent concert on Saturday, December 3 at 6 p.m. in the Dewald Chapel, located on Mount Union’s campus.

Dr. Ronald Mendel, associate professor of human performance and sport business and director of the University of Mount Union’s Exercise Science Program, presented Fit or Fat? on Tuesday, November 22 at the LINC Luncheon. The luncheon was held in the Hoover-Price Campus Center on the University’s campus. 

The University of Mount Union’s Guitar Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble and Horn Choir will perform a wide variety of musical selections on Monday, November 28 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Dr. Niall Slater, professor of Latin and Greek at Emory University, presented the Slater Lecture on Thursday, November 17 in Presser Recital Hall on the University of Mount Union’s campus.
