Gina (Dominick ’96) Bannevich, director of marketing at the University of Mount Union, is amongst the twenty young professionals chosen to be a part of ystark!’s 2011 Twenty under 40! class.

The Ralph and Mary Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement at the University of Mount Union, The Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at The University of Akron and the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University have joined together in a public/private collaboration to address some of today’s most pressing political issues.

The University of Mount Union hosted its fourth annual Student Celebration Honoring Our Latest Academic Research (SCHOLAR) Day, a campus-wide day filled with presentations showcasing academic excellence and scholarly research conducted by Mount Union students, on Tuesday, April 19 on Mount Union’s campus.

The University of Mount Union held its annual Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation Tuesday, April 19. The convocation honored graduating seniors and underclass students who have excelled academically, displayed excellent leadership skills and shown dedication to the University and community through outstanding community service initiatives.

Annie Patton and Michael Border were named Outstanding Senior Woman and Man during the University of Mount Union’s annual Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation held Tuesday, April 19.

The University of Mount Union has named Alliance resident Dr. Beth Canfield-Simbro, associate professor of human performance and sport business and co-director of the Honors Program, as the 2011 Great Teacher. The award was presented Tuesday, April 19 at Mount Union's annual Senior Recognition and Honors Convocation.

Alliance history will be the topic of discussion during the Continued Learning Program session at the University of Mount Union on Tuesday, April 26 at 10 a.m. in Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center. The speakers for the event will be John Gross and Daniel Skivolocke.

The University of Mount Union recently announced that it will launch “The Discover China Program,” a multi-faceted Chinese cultural program in the fall of 2012, funded by Jim and Pam Griffith. Jim is a member of the Mount Union Board of Trustees and serves as president and chief executive officer of The Timken Company.

University of Mount Union’s Flute Choir will perform Thursday, April 21 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall on Mount Union’s campus.

A Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist will speak at the Continued Learning Program session at the University of Mount Union on Tuesday, April 19 at 10 a.m. in the East Room of the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

University of Mount Union’s Trombone Ensemble will perform Tuesday, April 19 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall on Mount Union’s campus.

Each summer, a group of students from the University of Mount Union travel to Russia to spend time with children at the Ponery Orphanage. This year, students hope to bring the children soccer equipment and their very own soccer uniforms.

University of Mount Union’s Concert Band will perform Monday, April 18 at 8 p.m. in Rodman Playhouse on Mount Union’s campus.

The University of Mount Union Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Clarence M. Shearer, interim director of choral activities and visiting professor of music, will present a concert Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.
