Mount Receives Recognition for Community Service

For the fifth consecutive year, the University of Mount Union has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America’s communities. The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) honored Mount Union as a leader among institutions of higher education for its support of volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.

Dr. Richard L. Drake to Join Board of Trustees

Dr. Richard L. Drake, director of anatomy and professor of surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, will join the Board of Trustees at the University of Mount Union this fall, announced Board Chair Randall C. Hunt.  Drake was elected at the Board’s annual spring meeting on Friday, May 6.

Recycling Sale Benefits Community Food Pantry

Rose to Participate in Youth Exchange Program

Corey Rose, a senior German and computer science major at the University of Mount Union, has been selected to participate in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX), a year-long, federally-funded fellowship for study and work in Germany. Among a pool of more than 500 applicants nationwide, he was selected as one of 75 participants for this unique opportunity to gain cultural, theoretical, and practical work experience in Germany.

Shannon Brys Earns Associated Press Award

June 09, 2011

Shannon Brys, a senior communication major of Concord Township, OH, received first place in the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters annual contest for best feature reporting in small market radio in Ohio. Shannon was the news director last year for WRMU 91.1 FM, Mount Union’s student-run radio station, and is currently the program director. The award was presented to Brys on Sunday, June 5 in Columbus.
