Greg Montgomery Jr., a nine-year veteran punter, coach and mental health advocate, will tell his story of living with bipolar disorder on Wednesday, October 12 at 6 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall on the University of Mount Union’s campus. 

International author and consultant, Dr. Rich Allen, presented an interactive workshop Green Light Classrooms: Teaching Techniques That Accelerate Learning to more than 230 Mount Union students and faculty members on Saturday, September 24 on the University of Mount Union’s campus.

Washington Monthly has ranked the University of Mount Union among the top 100 liberal arts colleges and universities in the nation in its 2011 rankings.  Mount Union is ranked 98th among the 249 institutions that Washington Monthly included in the category. 

A bus trip has been scheduled for Purple Raider fans to travel to Ada, Ohio for the University of Mount Union vs. Ohio Northern University football game on Saturday, October 1.

The University of Mount Union’s Department of Theatre will present the comedy Bus Stop by William Inge on October 6, 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. in Rodman Playhouse.

Nature photography by Jim Clark will be on display in the Crandall Art Gallery on the University of Mount Union’s campus from October 3-28. 

Summertime is one of the most competitive times of the year for the average college student. Some students are looking for leisurely jobs to earn extra money to aid their last semester’s strained bank accounts while other ambitious college students are on the scout for their first break into the real world. Marcus Williams, a senior finance major at the University of Mount Union, chose the latter of the two as he landed an internship in the nation’s capital.

The University of Mount Union’s Engineering and Business Building and the John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center will be two of the sites on the 2011 Green Energy Ohio Tour (formerly the Ohio Solar Tour).

The University of Mount Union’s Office of Counseling Services has planned a variety of events in honor of Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Once again, the University of Mount Union was ranked among America’s best colleges and universities in a report released recently by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP). 

Throughout his life, Dr. Santosh Saha, professor of history at the University of Mount Union, has dedicated much of his research studies to the history of developing nations, human rights, human development, ethnic conflict and agriculture. In fact, the author of 14 published books has researched or taught in six of the seven continents. This past summer, he spent his summer in Oxford, United Kingdom conducting and presenting research.

Mount Union’s M Club Hall of Fame will induct its 2011 class on Saturday, Septem­ber 24. The inductees will be recognized in a ceremony at noon at the Fred J. Haupt President’s House and during halftime of the Mount Union vs. Wilmington College game, which will kick off at 7 p.m.

A faculty recital featuring Patricia and John Olsson will be held Sunday, September 25 at 3 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall on the University of Mount Union’s campus.

For the 20th consecutive year, the University of Mount Union has been favorably ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s Best Colleges. This year, Mount Union was ranked in the top 10 among regional colleges in the Midwest, which includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Dr. Francis Schortgen, assistant professor of political science and international studies at the University of Mount Union, will present The Rise of China: Perception vs. Reality on Tuesday, September 27 at the LINC luncheon. The luncheon will be held in the Hoover-Price Campus Center, located on the University’s campus.

The University of Mount Union, in collaboration with the Alliance community, has planned a variety of events in remembrance of September 11.
