The University of Mount Union’s chemistry program has been formally approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS). 

The University of Mount Union will welcome two additional faculty members – Dr. Sudhir Kaul and Dr. Pattabhi Sitaram – to its Department of Engineering this fall.

Students of the University of Mount Union’s Department of Engineering will soon benefit from an enriched educational experience and enhanced preparation to enter the workforce through an in-kind software grant from Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services. The in-kind software grant with a commercial value of $24.1 million is the largest in-kind corporate contribution received in Mount Union’s 165-year history.

The American Red Cross Alliance-Minerva Area Chapter honored Mark Hawald, the University of Mount Union’s head wrestling coach, with a Hometown Hero Award on Saturday during its annual Hometown Heroes Award Breakfast.

The University of Mount Union recently received word that it is among the 11 college and universities in Ohio to receive a $100,000 Teacher Planning Grant for the 2011-2012 Academic Year from eTech Ohio Commission. 

The University of Mount Union honored three individuals during its 165^th Commencement exercises Saturday. Mount Union Trustees Jack Peters, Vanita (Bauknight ’63) Oelschlager and the late Charles Grove were awarded honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees in recognition of their personal and professional accomplishments and service to the University.

More than 450 students participated in the University of Mount Union’s 165^th Commencement Ceremony held Saturday, May 7 in the Peterson Field House of the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex. 

Members of the University of Mount Union community paid tribute to the life of the late Charles D. Grove, a trustee of the institution, at a dedication ceremony held Friday in the Engineering and Business Building on campus.  During the event, the entryway of the facility was officially named The Charles D. Grove Lobby in honor of Grove’s dedication to the institution.

The University of Mount Union and the Alliance Community Hospital, in conjunction with the Alliance Fire Department and Alliance Police Department, will be conducting a disaster drill on Saturday, May 14 between the hours of noon to 4 p.m. on the University’s campus.

Due to current ground conditions and expected inclement weather, the University of Mount Union will hold its 165^th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 7 in the Peterson Field House of the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

University of Mount Union students recently participated in the 2011 Echo Student Literary Competition, a multi-school literary competition for undergraduates. The competition was run through Hiram College’s Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing & Literature of Hiram College.
