ALLIANCE, Ohio – In honor of retiring Timken President/CEO and former Mount Union board member James W. Griffith, The Timken Company Charitable and Education Fund along with the Timken Foundation, have established a scholarship for one engineering student at the University of Mount Union each year.

The Office of Information Technology will be conducting an extensive network down time the weekend of Friday, June 20 through Sunday, June 22. The purpose of this down time is to replace all network electronic equipment in all wiring closets across campus.

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union held its eighth annual Summer Science Camp for area youngsters recently. This camp was initiated by Dr. Scott Mason and Dr. Sheryl Mason in June 2007 and has since increased in popularity. Scott is a professor of chemistry and the director of the pre-health program, and Sheryl is an assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Mount Union.

ALLIANCE, Ohio – As if directing two different plays simultaneously wasn’t difficult enough, University of Mount Union professor Kevin P. Kern faces another obstacle this summer. He is directing two different plays, by two different companies, in two entirely different locations. Within a month of each other, Kern will direct two Shakespeare productions; one in Ohio, one in California.

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Mount Union will again host the participants of the American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio’s Buckeye Girls State (BGS) from Saturday, June 14 through Saturday, June 21. This is the fourth consecutive year Mount Union has hosted this event.

ALLIANCE, Ohio –  “Shakespeare at the Castle,” the first of a proposed annual theatre festival performed live on the grounds of the iconic Glamorgan Castle in Alliance, will take place at 7 p.m. July 25-27. Grounds will open at 6:15 p.m. for picnicking.
