Dr. Ivory Lyons, professor of religion spent his sabbatical leave at Christ University in Bangalore, India researching the religions of India. While he was there, he immersed himself in Indian culture and learned a lot during his seven-week stay.

Dr. Peter Schneller, associate professor of education and co-chair of the Department of Education, spent three weeks this summer conducting educational workshops at Christ University in Bangalore, India.

This summer, a group of Mount Union College students will have a rare opportunity to experience Japanese culture and study peace issues in Hiroshima, Japan through a partnership with the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation.

Mount Union is conducting its annual shutdown from 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 23 through Sunday, January 3. The College will reopen on Monday, January 4.

The Grimes Theatre Group will perform “The Meeting” on Thursday, January 14 at 7 p.m. in the Mount Union College Theatre. The play is based on a fictional meeting between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

A group of students enrolled in the environmental ethics class at Mount Union College recently spent a weekend backpacking in the Monongahela National Forest in Elkins, WV.

The John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center will be holding a Walk with a Naturalist on Sunday, December 20 at 2 p.m.

A send-off for the Mount Union College football team will be held at the Wable-Harter Building on Wednesday, December 16 prior to the departure of the team at approximately 3 p.m. The Wable-Harter Building is located north of Mount Union Stadium.

Returning to Mount Union after her fifth time teaching abroad through the University Study Abroad Consortium (USAC), Dr. Jamie Capuzza, professor of communication is able to share a variety of stories about learning environments around the world.

Chris Mark, senior political science major from McDonald, OH, has recently been accepted into the Teach for America program. Teach for America recruits recent college graduates from all backgrounds and career interests to commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools in an attempt to eliminate educational inequity.

Mount Union’s chapter of Fellowship for Christian Athletes (FCA) collected 4,400 pairs of shoes and $2,000 for the international relief effort, Soles4Souls.

The Mount Union College Choir will perform on Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

Dr. Maira Liliestedt of the Mount Union College Department of Music will perform a piano recital on Tuesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The exhibit, “Midwestern Landscape,” which will be on display from November 3 through December 10 in the Crandall Art Gallery, will feature etchings by Larry Welo.
