This year’s Relay for Life event titled “25 Years of Hope” raised more than $21,000 on March 28 and 29. The 18-hour event proved to be a night of inspiration and hope for cancer survivors and friends alike.

Dr. Sarah Torok, Linda Pauli and senior Lindsey Coyle were recognized with the Jane Weston Chapman award for their contributions in enhancing the climate for women's participation in any and all areas of Mount Union College community life at the Women’s History Month Convocation held March 31 in the Dewald Chapel.

This semester’s Fireside Chat brought Mal Mixon, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Invacare Corporation, to Mount Union’s campus. The Fireside Chat brings an influential speaker to campus each semester to share their expertise with Mount Union Presidential Scholars and other students.

Mount Union College, in conjunction with the YWCA, Girl Scouts of America and the Alliance Department of Parks and Recreation hosted the National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Sunday, February 29 at the Alliance YWCA.

Mount Union College seniors Pierre Garcon, Nate Kmic, Greg Micheli along with junior Cecil Shorts III visited Parkway Elementary School in Alliance to educate students on importance of health, fitness and physical activity.

Dr. Patricia Boehm, associate professor of music at Mount Union College will perform a soprano recital on Sunday, March 29 at 3 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall.

The John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center of Mount Union College will hold a Walk with a Naturalist on Sunday, March 29 from 2-4 p.m.

A student debate will be held Tuesday, March 31 at 5:30 p.m. in Chapman Hall Room 202 at Mount Union College. The topic for the debate will be “Resolved that Election Strategies that Focus on Culture War Issues (abortion, gay marriage, etc.) should be discontinued.”

Dozens of Mount Union students chose to spend their time during Mount Union College’s Spring Break volunteering to do community service projects both in the United States and abroad.

The Mount Union Alliance Chorale, under the direction of Mount Union faculty member John Roberts, will present its 26th annual spring concert on Palm Sunday, April 5 at 3 p.m. at the First Christian Church, located on West Beech Street in Alliance.

The Mount Union College Continued Learning Committee will be offering free Continued Learning Program sessions for adults at 10 a.m. each Tuesday in April in the Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Six students from Mount Union College attended the College Media Advisers National Convention in New York City from March 15-17.
