A group of Mount Union education students, along with Dr. Peter Schneller, associate professor of education and co-chair of the Department of Education and Dr. Ivory Lyons, associate professor of philosophy and religious studies performed culturally and developmentally responsive teaching in a low-income, diverse middle school in Charleston, S.C. during spring break.

A group of Mount Union students, along with Marty CashBurless, chaplain of the College and Patty Kuhn, payroll representative, spent their spring break volunteering their time doing missionary projects on the island of St. Croix.

Eleven international students, along with Dawn Adams, assistant director of the Center for Global Education traveled to Washington D.C. during the week of spring break to learn about U.S. history.

Students enrolled in a social responsibility course at Mount Union traveled to Monte Oscuro, a little village in western El Salvador for spring break. For the eleventh year, Mount Union has worked with the rural health organization ASAPROSAR to complete various missionary projects.

Students enrolled in the Mount Union Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) attended their annual military ball on Friday, March 19 in Niles, Ohio.

“ATO Cuts for Cancer” will be held on Monday, April 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Alpha Tau Omega house on Mount Union’s campus. Each brother of the fraternity will be collecting donations with an overall goal of $5,000 to be donated to Relay for Life.

Bob Sebo, former vice president of Paychex Inc., discussed leadership and success with Mount Union presidential scholars and business students on Tuesday, March 30 during a fireside chat at Mount Union.

It requires approximately $30,000 to build one school in the rural areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Jim Griffith, president and chief executive officer of The Timken Company and a member of the Mount Union Board of Trustees, and his wife Pam agreed on Tuesday evening to commit half of this needed funding if those attending the Schooler Lecture at Mount Union could successfully launch an effort to raise the remaining $15,000.

A group of 14 Mount Union students and staff members traveled to Atlanta, GA during spring break to assist those affected by the flood this past September.

Mount Union College and the Hiroshima Jogakuin High School in Hiroshima, Japan have continued to maintain a strong relationship since 1956.

Julie Conrad, a volunteer from the Stark County Juvenile Court will be discussing her experiences with the Stark County Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem program at the Continued Learning Program Session on Tuesday, April 6 at 10 a.m. in the Hoover-Price Campus Center on Mount Union’s campus.

The Faculty Research Forum, originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at Mount Union, has been cancelled. If and when the forum is rescheduled, it will be announced to the public.

Nearly 20 Mount Union students spent last week rehearsing and learning first hand from The Living Theatre Workshops co-founders Jerry Goralnik and Lois Kagan Mingus.
