April 01, 2010

Over 260 area musicians joined forces for a Jazzy Christmas Celebration, held in the auditorium of Alliance High School December 10.

Dr. Elaine Anderson, associate professor of music spearheaded the entire production, which she has been working on since March.

Anderson conducted the Alliance Symphony while other groups participating included the Alliance Symphony Big Band under the direction of Mount Union alumnus Bryan Stehura '98, the Mount Union Alliance Chorale under the direction of John Roberts, instructor of music, the Alliance High School Choir, directed by Wayne Fisher, Kim Jacoby and the Hoover High School Choir, Vanessa Painter and selected Marlington and Salem high school choir members as well as Attila Samu, Mount Union private music instructor of voice.

These ensembles performed jazzy Christmas arrangements by Steve Sample.

The program also featured Mount Union faculty member Bohdan Subchak on violin, performing Vivaldi's 'Winter Concerto.'
