Esther (Herdle ’39) Wells celebrated her 100th birthday on July 5, 2017. Esther is a member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church. She and her late husband were faithful members of a Disciple Bible Study class well into their 80s.
Charles “Brownie” Ketcham ’49 recently published his sixth book, Finding Fellini. Charles was a recipient of a Mount Union Honorary Degree and is the son of former Mount Union President Charles B. Ketcham.
Adele (Smutny ’50) King’s book, Finding God Real, was published in January 2017, and she recently participated in the Meadowood Art Show. She also has a radio show on WRMI covering the Caribbean Central.
Darlene (Howard ’59) Lambert and her husband, James, recently celebrated 29 years of marriage. Darlene retired as a librarian in the Roosevelt School District. She currently works for Especially 4 U Tours as a tour guide on the 53-passenger bus, “The Price is Right.” She and James are the proud great-grandparents of seven great-grandchildren.
James Laughlin ’55 announced his retirement as chairman and president of Utica Bankorp in Xenia, Ohio. He and his wife, Joyce, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 16, 2017.
Marilyn (Pertel ’72) Borga is publishing her first novel, Forever Kozy, which will be available on Amazon and in Barnes & Noble and other bookstores in April of 2018.
Pamela (Harner ’73) Osborn retired from the Crestview School System in Convoy, Ohio in 2011. She taught Spanish and French for 22 years and student with learning disabilities for 16 years. She and her husband, Robert, were married June 11, 2016.
Captain John W. Watson (Ret.) ’71 started a new business venture in May of 2017. His business is Cerca Trova Treasure Salvors, LLC, which translates to “Seek and Ye Shall Find.” With federal and state rights granted, Cerca Trova is searching for treasures from 11 Spanish galleons lost in 1715 from Havana to Spain, scattering wreckage along the East Coast of Florida from Port St. Lucie to Sebastian.
Holly (Snyder ’84) Shaw-Hollis recently retired from the Philadelphia School District after 28 years of service. She was a classroom teacher for seven years and a technology teacher for 21 years, all at the same school.
Laurie (Swaldo ’82) Switzer and WVIZ were awarded an Emmy for the Best Children’s Program for the Lower Great Lakes Region. Laurie is the outreach and special projects coordinator for the youth program “News Depth.”
Lisa D. (Keeney ’97) Gallo D.P.M. was inducted into the Concentra 2017 Hall of Fame.
Paul Oliu ’90 is working at CGI as partner director of consulting. His primary focus is on expanding and growing CGI’s U.S. technology solutions and services presence in wealth management.
David J. Ramos ’93 recently took a new position with the Bechtel Corporation as an IT project lead working for Carroll County Energy in the construction of a new Combined Cycle Power Plant. He also serves as chairman of the Perry Township Zoning Commission and was elected to serve as a member of the Perry Local Board of Education.
Elexis (Benczo ’92) Ryan was crowned Mrs. Ohio America 2017 on April 22, 2017 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She competed for the title of Mrs. America 2017 in Las Vegas on August 26, 2017.
Jennifer Zoky ’99 is currently a teacher for the School Board of Highlands County, Florida.
Michael Andric ’00 was recently named principal at Barberton Middle School effective August 1, 2017. Andric began teaching at Barberton High School in 2005, where he spearheaded several building-wide initiatives including the Bonnie Myers College Access Program, and implemented Upward Bound, a federal program that provides opportunities for students to succeed in their pre-college performance and higher education pursuits.
Steve ’08 and Amy (Duffy ’08) Araps announce the birth of a daughter, Elizabeth Mae, on May 28, 2017.
Edward J. Bell ’09 was recently hired as the state operations manager for Controltec, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio.
Kelley (Bryan ’06) and Jason Broadwater announce the birth of a daughter, Lucy Mae, on August 4, 2017.
Dara Ford ’05 is the head men’s and women’s track and cross country coach at Otterbein University.
Adam Gingrich ’09 is a universal banker with Huntington National Bank.
Grant Lepley ’09 graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in May of 2013 and is a doctor of optometry at Family Focus Eye Care in Wisconsin. He and his wife, Julie, announced the birth of a daughter, Mya Jean, on February 22, 2017 who joins sibling Ella Marie, 3.
Matthew Myers ’05 and Michelle Thompson were married on June 17, 2016 in downtown Cleveland. Members of the wedding party included Jamie Hart ’05, Drew Kocher ’05, Mark Hubert ’05, and David Gossett ’05. Michael J. Wartko ’06 served as the officiant. More than 20 additional Mount Union alumni were in attendance.
Courtney (Smith ’06) and Todd Pernick announce the birth of a daughter, Sophia, on April 10, 2017. Courtney is a board-certified behavior analyst for Chrysalis Utah.
Jessica (Eggan ’08) and David Ray announce the birth of a daughter, Charlotte, on August 6, 2017. The couple resides in Maumelle, Arkansas.
Jeremy (’08) and Carin Roseberry announce the birth of twin daughters, Paisley Grace and Aubrie Lynn, on January 24, 2017. They join sibling Kylie Marie, 3.
Andrew ’11 and Jackie (Grahek ’11) Bonath announce the birth of a son, Henry, on July 5, 2017. Andy and Jackie are both teachers for the Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools.
Morgan Welker ’16 andJake Kail were married on June 3, 2017.
Holly Fabrizio ’12 and Alex Koehler ’10 were married on June 17, 2016. Members of the wedding party included A.J. Meyer ’11, Andrew Youtz ’10, Ryan Shannon ’10, and Anna Grubic ’12.
Paul ’10 and Erin (Roberts ’12) Mariotti announce the birth of a daughter, Elena Rose, on February 5, 2017.
Mary (Cosimano ’11) and Kyle Shelato announce the birth of a son, Matthew, on February 5, 2017. Mary is currently a graduate student in the College of Student Development at Kansas State University, and her husband is a Senior Consultant for Ernst & Young.
Beau Smith ’12 and Madalyn Zalewski ’13 were married October 29, 2016.
Sarah (Snyder ’11) and Taylor ’11 Sowers announce the birth of a son Carter Robert on March 19, 2017.
Joshua Stitt ’14 and Stephanie Treubig ’15 were married August 12, 2017. Members of the wedding party included Tyler Lowe ’15, Cody Sundley ’15, Dan Luzar ’15, Mike Ison ’13, Joyanna Hoffman ’14, and Maria Favorite ’15. The couple graduated from the University of Akron with master’s degrees in exercise physiology and social work respectively.
Corey A. Unckrich ’13 and Clare E. Maskow were married on June 24, 2017. Members of the wedding party included Michael Unckrich ’18, Kyle Miller ’11, Brett Ekkens ’12, and Cameron Baradziej ’13. Also part of the celebration was Stefani Schaefer ’93. Corey and Clare reside in Alliance, Ohio. Corey teaches 7th grade science at Alliance Middle School and coaches football, swimming, and track.
