Class of 2015 Arrives on Mount Union’s Campus

On Saturday, more than 680 new students unpacked their bags in various residence halls, apartments and theme houses across the University of Mount Union’s campus and begin familiarizing themselves with their new home.
Members of Sophomore Service, First Year Experience, Alumni Council and Greek life were on hand to assist the Class of 2015 and their parents with the move-in and provide refreshments. After meeting roommates and unloading cars, students had the opportunity to meet with the residence life staff members in their buildings and socialize with other new students before the weekend of events began.
The Class of 2015 is a diverse group as it represents 13 countries, 20 states and 53 counties in Ohio. This year’s class has representation from Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Of the students from Ohio, 219 high schools and 53 of Ohio’s 88 counties are represented. In addition to the United States, there are students representing Bolivia, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Vietnam.
The freshman class also participated in Matriculation Convocation, an annual event where the faculty and freshman students usher in the academic year. Throughout the weekend, new students were led through a variety of activities, informational meetings and recreational events organized by the members of the Preview and Orientation staff that will better familiarize them to campus in preparation for the beginning of the 2011-2012 Academic Year. A variety of extra-curricular student activities have also been planned to kick off the year.
