Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble to Perform

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 in Presser Recital Hall. The group will present a wide variety of Chinese music, including ancient and modern pieces, on traditional wind, string and percussion instruments.
Formed in the fall of 2008 for the opening celebration of the University of Akron’s Confucius Institute, the ensemble has performed at many area universities as well as at the Akron Civic Theatre, Akron Art Museum, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland Public Library, Kent State Folk Festival, Cleveland Asian Festival, Asian Festival in Columbus, OH, Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival, Asian Pacific American Federation Asian Heritage Month Celebration, First Night Akron and Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. They have also been featured on WCPN 90.3 FM, WAPS 91.3 FM, WVIZ Channel 25 and Image TV Ohio.
The ensemble regularly presents educational programs on Chinese music for all ages, and its concerts frequently explore the intersections between Chinese music and other traditional art forms such as poetry, calligraphy, painting, tea ceremony and martial arts.
Presser Recital Hall is located within Cope Music Hall on the corner of Union Avenue and Simpson Street on Mount Union’s Campus. Due to ongoing construction at the site of the new Performing Arts Complex, no on-site parking is available behind the building. Alternate parking is available on Simpson and Vincent Streets and in the Eells Art Center parking lot, as well as in other campus parking lots.
