CLP Session to Feature Alliance Police Chief

ALLIANCE, Ohio — City of Alliance Police Chief Scott C. Griffith will be the speaker at the upcoming CLP session at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26 at the University of Mount Union.

Griffith will discuss how the Alliance Police Department is using social media.

Griffith began his career as a patrol officer on the midnight shift in 1991. He was promoted to narcotics detective in 1997 and detective sergeant in 1998. In 2002, he was promoted to detective lieutenant and placed in charge of the Detective Bureau. In 2004, he was promoted to captain and named special operations commander.

Griffith was sworn in as a special federal officer with the FBI and was one of the lead case agents in the federal drug trafficking and conspiracy case of The United States of America vs. Percy Smith et al.

In 2000, Griffith was the first Alliance officer to be named the Stark County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. He was appointed as chief of police in 2008. Griffith is married to Janet and the couple has four children.
