Communication Major

If you’re looking for a communication program in Ohio, take a closer look at the University of Mount Union. Our exceptional experience offers everything from personal attention and hands-on experience to state-of-the-art facilities and a well-rounded curriculum.

Communication majors are a dynamic, ever-changing field of study that offers an array of exciting and rewarding career paths as well as preparation for graduate school. Gain the knowledge and experience you need to be successful through our communication program. A unique, broad-based curriculum with a focus on diversity and specialized tracks in media studies, interpersonal/organizational communication, peace communication and public relations together offer a praxis orientation to learning. Our radio and TV station and student newspaper are a great learning laboratory to apply the skills that you have developed in the classroom. This experience can lead to internships and networking opportunities, and after graduation, career success and/or graduate school.

Mount Union communication degrees have gotten alumni positions for local, regional and national media outlets such as the Associated Press, Log Home Living Magazine, Fox Sports Ohio, WJW Fox 8 Cleveland, WEWS News Net 5 Cleveland, 1450 WJER AM, The Canton Repository, among others.  Communication graduates can also be found working in the public relations in agency settings and for organizations including Aramark, COSI, Nationwide Insurance, Harvard University and George Washington University.  Some even own their own businesses.

Communication program students also have pursued graduate studies at institutions across the country including the University of Georgia, University of Wisconsin, Youngstown State University, Northwestern University, Syracuse University, The Ohio State University, Kent State University and University of Akron.

The major in communication is administered by the Department of Communication.
