Computer Science Major
Knowledge of programming, hardware organization, operating systems, theory of computation and principles of programming languages - the learning of these skills and more is at the core of our program, which will prepare you for work in a career field set to explode in terms of demand for qualified employees. Our unique combination of computer science and liberal arts is recognized by business and industry as excellent preparation for this growing and challenging field.
Mount Union graduates have found success working for major businesses, industries and research centers such as Hewlett Packard, IBM, Oracle, Electronic Data Systems, Loral, U.S. Geological Survey, Hughes Aircraft, Babcock & Wilcox, Cap Gemini, Ernst & Young, Andersen Consulting, Price-WaterhouseCoopers, Accenture, FedEx, Diebold, Inc., The Timken Company, U.S. Department of Defense, Progressive Insurance and FirstEnergy Corp. Some are running their own companies.

The major in computer science is administered by the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, which also offers programs in information systems and interactive media (with the Department of Art) as well as minors in database management, computer and network security and web design.
