Congressman Tim Ryan to Speak at Mount Union
October 23, 2014
ALLIANCE – The Pre-Law Society and Alpha Lambda Delta at the University of Mount Union will host Congressman Tim Ryan at 6:30 p.m. on October 27 in Campus Grounds of the Hoover-Price Campus Center. Ryan will speak about the policy significance of the 2014 elections.
The event is open to the all Mount Union students, faculty and staff and the Alliance community.
Congressman Ryan (D) currently represents the people of Ohio’s northeastern region in the 13th district and has consistently been reelected since his swearing into office on January 7, 2003. Ryan is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, which has power over the spending procedures of money given by the federal government, and is also a member of the House Budget Committee that supervises the federal budget process.
While serving as an active member of Congress, Ryan also makes time to be a publishing author, producing such works as “A Mindful Nation” and, most recently, “The Real Food Revolution.”
Ryan is a leader and strong supporter in the fight to strengthen America’s manufacturing and reform U.S. trade policies. His participation in the movement is focused on helping employers find education and trained employees, develop new industrial technologies, conduct business on an even-leveled playing field with competitors and achieve a quality of capital that they deserve.
As a member of the “30 Something” Working Group, a Congressional caucus that includes democratic members of the House of Representatives who have not yet reached the age of 40, Ryan strives to improve the health and well-being of American families and children, especially those in the Northeastern parts of Ohio. He also works on efforts to make college more affordable.
